The Skills and Employment Hub is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority, the Ministry of Social Development and the Tertiary Education Commission. The initiative is to meet the anticipated high demand for labour as the rebuild programme expands and as the wider Canterbury economy recovers.
The Hub is a one stop shop, serviced by Skill Brokers who are available to provide services to employers and link them with potential skill sources, provide market information and encourage firms to plan for their future skills and labour needs, including training.
Open during work hours, the Hub’s Skill Brokers are also available to visit or talk to employers at times to suit their needs.
Job seekers can contact the Hub through this email email@example.com and are encouraged to register on the website so that they can be alerted to job matches as they are listed.
The initiative has been launched to help employers match job seekers and trainees in Canterbury and from across New Zealand with their employment opportunities. Where there are no suitable or trainable New Zealanders available, the Hub will work with employers to help them access migrant labour through a faster and more efficient immigration process.
